Clinical Solutions for L5/S1 using Expandable Technology

Date/Time: 23 April, 2021, 12:10-13:00 JST

Chair: Dr. Keisuke Nakano

Speaker: Dr. Takeshi Sakamoto

Lateral lumbar interbody fusions with anterior column release are performed to restore sagittal balance of the spinal column; however, this is an advanced technique and the L5-S1 segment cannot be treated. Addressing L5-S1 is important in achieving sagittal balance, and there is a growing need for interbody cages with high lordosis angles. This can be challenging to achieve through a posterior approach. Expandable Interbody Technology, such as RISE, is a solution to these challenges. In this presentation, I will address these challenges and share my experiences using expandable technology.

Clinical Case Experience with ExcelsiusGPS® – the Revolutionary Robotic Navigation System

Date/Time: 23 April, 2021, 13:30-14:30 JST

Pedicle screw fixation has become a standard of care for spinal fusions. Multiple studies have reported accuracy of pedicle screw insertion ranging from 27% to 100%.Introduction of fluoroscopy and navigation has helped emergence of MIS procedures with improved accuracy but is associated with higher radiation exposures. Robot assisted pedicle1: screw placement appears to have overcome these disadvantages.
