Globus Medical, the world's largest privately held spinal company, is driving significant technological advancements across the complete suite of spinal products including Fusion, MIS (minimally invasive surgery), Motion Preservation and Biomaterials. Since its founding in 2003 by an accomplished team of spine professionals with a shared passion for developing new technologies to improve patient outcomes, Globus' single-minded focus on advancing spinal surgery has made it the fastest growing company in the history of orthopedics. Today, Globus is one of the world's preeminent spine companies, with proven technology and innovation across the spectrum of spine surgery products.

Globus is a world leader in Motion Preservation - introducing two "world's first" surgeries in motion preservation in 2007. Its portfolio of products represents significant technological advancements in Fusion, MIS, and Biomaterials.

The ultimate goal of Globus is to utilize superior engineering and technology to achieve pain free, active lives for all patients. To accomplish this, Globus collaborates with spine surgeons to develop cutting-edge technologies that improve patient outcomes, including specific benefits such as preserved motion and flexibility, shorter operative times, reduced hospital stays and recovery periods, decreased post-operative pain, and smaller scars.

Accelerating the Pace of Spinal Technology

The pace and research behind Globus' product development engine is unmatched in the industry. A unique process, state-of-the-art in-house capabilities, and dedicated teams allow Globus to accelerate the product development cycle - from the design phase through FDA approval to market introduction. It has enabled the company to launch a total of 26 different systems in just over four years across the spectrum of Fusion, MIS, Motion Preservation and Biomaterials - arguably one of the most comprehensive product portfolios in the industry, and a remarkable accomplishment for a company less than five years old.

Small, highly-focused development teams take a product from concept through launch. To eliminate inefficiencies, emphasis is placed on multiple, rapid iterations of the design-prototype-test cycle to identify and correct potential issues early. Products are developed, tested, evaluated, and enhanced by teams of surgeons working side-by-side with engineers and machinists in the lab, in the prototype shop, and in the operating room.

Globus' in-house, state-of-the art prototype shop, with an extensive staff of master craftsmen and machinists also produce custom instrument modifications within 24 hours to meet medical emergencies, and routinely do so with a 7-day turnaround - a singular capability in the industry today.

The result - a product development engine that produces innovative technology for spine surgery at a record pace.

Offering a Full Portfolio of Advanced Fusion Products

Globus has remained wholly-focused on spine surgery since its inception in 2003. As a result, its portfolio includes a full line of technologically-advanced fusion products. Fusion - the primary surgical method used to provide pain relief from degenerative disc disease - typically involves removing the damaged discs, restoring disc height to relieve pressure on impinged nerve roots, and fusing together adjacent verebra to maintain the newly restored disc height.

Advancing Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is transforming spine surgery. The cutting-edge technology driving MIS is quickly improving patients' lives and forever changing the way spine surgeons operate. Globus is at the forefront of this new frontier, with a full range of technologically-advanced products that allow the delivery of fusion and motion preservation through minimally invasive techniques. Globus offers multiple systems that can be used independently or in combination with each other to allow spine surgeons to treat a wide variety of spine disease with MIS techniques. Globus' core competency in MIS impacts its compete portfolio of Fusion, Motion Preservation and Biomaterial products.

Leading the World in Motion Preservation

While fusion remains the most common surgical treatment for the spine, superior non-fusion techniques and devices are the future of spine surgery - and Globus is leading the charge.

While fusion is initially effective in providing pain relief, drawbacks exist. Most importantly, the fusing of formerly independent vertebrae can significantly reduce mobility and flexibility in patients. Long a pioneer in motion preservation, Globus' line of products uniquely boast state-of-the-art designs that preserve a patient's full range of motion in a secure platform.

These innovative products have secured Globus' position as the world leader in motion sparing technology. In the past year alone, Globus has introduced two "world's first" surgeries in motion preservation using its transforaminal and posterior disc replacement systems. The pace and research behind Globus' motion sparing technology demonstrate its ability to harness the power of surgeons' clinical expertise with engineering ingenuity to create products that are proven to improve the lives of patients.

Increasing the Focus on Biomaterials

Most industry experts agree that the use of Biomaterials in the treatment of spine disease holds tremendous promise. With several burgeoning initiatives for Biomaterials, Globus is quickly becoming a pioneer in this important segment of spine surgery with new products that represent important technological innovations.

Globus' recent introduction of its NuBone™ Osteoinductive Bone Graft Product Line is the first of several new biomaterial initiatives planned for the near future.

Sales and Marketing

Rapid growth and market acceptance has vaulted Globus Medical to its position as one of the world's preeminent spine companies and dramatically expanded its sales and distribution footprint across the U.S. The company's distribution network is built on the principles of quality and exclusivity, and Globus' products are distributed across a hybrid sales force consisting of exclusive independent distributors and direct representatives.

Financial Strength and Stability

Globus Medical is a privately held company, incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware. The company was initially financed by a series of four rounds of funding by private investors, the majority of which were individuals. In August 2007, the company announced the closing of its first institutional round of capital: a $110 million investment in Series E convertible preferred stock. Clarus Ventures, LLC led the round and was joined by AIG SunAmerica and other large, institutional private equity funds. Banc of America Securities, LLC acted as sole placement agent. The company believes its long-term success is based on its demonstrated ability to grow and operate profitably.
